In 2017, the Ministry of Health and its partners have implemented an intensified program to progressively control malaria in Vanuatu through: universal access to diagnosis and treatment, mass coverage with long lasting insecticide treated mosquito net, surveillance and response.  Prevention and control intervention mainly, LLIN distribution and usage, application of residual insecticide, close down of mosquito breeding sites, early seeking of treatment from health facility for fever were done by highly involvement of the local communities. As a result, annual parasite incidence falls from 6.9 per 1,000 in 2016 to 3.8 per 1,000 in 2017, and no confirmed deads after 2012. The major achievement in malaria program in recent years is Tafea province nationally certified as Malaria free
