While the global community has clearly subscribed to the vision of a malaria free world, there are still different views on the time horizon in which the eradication vision will be realised. To keep key stakeholders on board, this talk will discuss the multi-pronged approach that is needed for malaria eradication, ranging from the focus in maintaining universal coverage and move towards sub national elimination in high burden countries, to accelerating the elimination targets in low burden settings, and the call for more innovation as the current tools will not be enough to achieve the eradication aspiration.
