While the continuous availability of efficacious tools for malaria prevention and treatment will be critical in a global effort to achieve a malaria free world, of equal importance will be the way in which this is led and managed in the field. Leadership will need to be multi-faceted and management will need to be agile, as both will operate within a dynamic environment of under-resourced health systems and competing agendas.
