Charles Randolph, Head of Global Health in the Global Challenges Division at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, will deliver a brief overview of WIPO, then introduce WIPO Re:Search -- a global public-private consortium dedicated to accelerating the discovery and development of technologies for neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and tuberculosis. WIPO Re:Search does so by facilitating the sharing of intellectual property with the global health research community, by catalyzing and fostering global health collaborations, and by contributing to capacity-building in developing countries. Fundamental to this endeavor is the global intellectual property system and the innovation and investment it generates, all of which play a significant role in improving global health. Randolph’s presentation will outline the consortium’s history, mandate, structure, core functions, membership, and capacity-building activities.
