Jean-François Lepère
Dr Jean-François Lepère, MD, is a general practitioner with additional training in tropical medicine and epidemiology. He began his tropical career as a physician in Tanzania for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then he joined the Pasteur Institute and worked as a field epidemiologist in French Guiana and Central African Republic. His main investigations focused on retroviral diseases (HTLV-1 and HIV) ans sexually transmitted infections.
He has been working at the Hospital Center of Mayotte (a French oversea island in the Indian Ocean) as a medical practitioner in a primary consultation center for 20 years. He is mainly interested in the fight against malaria on this island, towards an expected elimination.
