Mohammad Shafiul Alam

Mohammad Shafiul Alam is an Associate Scientist at the Emerging Infections & Parasitology Laboratory of icddr,b. Has received Ph.D. and MS Degree in Parasitology both from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He received Postdoctoral training from Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery, Australia through FIT2 fellowship programme. He has also received training on point of care diagnosis from the University of Tokyo, Fondaton Mérieux, PATH, and Univ. of Washington. His research interest includes malaria drug resistance, point of care diagnostics for infectious diseases, host-parasite interaction and vector control. In recent time, he is focusing on antimalarial drug resistance particularly artemisinin resistance spreading throughout the South-East Asian region.
