Zhou Xiao-Nong
Prof Xiao-Nong ZHOU, Director of National Institute of Parasitic Disease, China Centre for Disease Control, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee of the Disease Control and Prevention for National Health Commission (NHC, former MOH), Chairman of the Prevention and Control Committee for Schistosomiasis and Parasitic Disease, NHFPC. He has had long-term cooperation experiences with WHO both on research project and serving as a member of international expert committees, for instance, the Board member of the WHO S&T Advisory Committee of NTD, Board member of the WHO Food-borne Diseases, Epidemiological Evaluation on Burden of Diseases, Member of the S&T Advisory Committee for WHO/TDR. He has rich experience in editing roles, such as acting as Editor-in-Chief of ‘Infectious Diseases of Poverty (BioMed Central Publisher)’, and Associated Editor of ‘PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases’ and ‘Geospatial Health’. He has published more than 100 papers in the international journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, etc., and published more than 5 books on relevant fields. He has been PI for more than 10 mag-research projects, such as the National Science and Technology Key Project on Major Infectious Diseases, Science and Technology Support Programme, The National Natural Science Fund mag-projects, as well as international cooperation project supported from IDRC (Canada), WHO/TDR, DANIDA (Denmark), respectively. He has got several prizes for his research achievements, including one first prize, 5 second prizes and 1 third prize at provincial or ministerial level. He has supervised more than 20 students at MSc and PhD levels, as well as 10 post-doctoral fellows including 2 from OECDs and 2 from LMICs.
